Today was the last day of the 2013 OC Fair, and this morning my husband decided that he wanted to go. So, we went.
The three things I wanted to do at the fair were pet animals, ride rides, and eat something decadently unhealthy.
I chose to try out the Krispy Kreme fried chicken sandwich, while Husband picked out fried chocolate chip cookie dough. We shared a large cup of Hot Dog on a Stick lemonade. It was all tremendously rich and gooey and fried and wonderful. I really wanted to get a cinnamon roll too (the stall smelled amazing) but I was way too full after the sandwich. I fully expected the food to be novel and greasy, but actually it was all really good! The chicken was tender in the sandwich, and had just the right about of salt to offset the sweet. Although the only “sauce” on it was honey, I didn’t miss any condiments. The doughnut was a little on the stale side. As for the cookie dough, that was spectacular. Everything one could want in a fried confection.
We rode the ferris wheel and the spinning whirly ride, aaaaaand that’s about it. Since those basically cost us $40 (our allotted budget for rides) we just walked around for the remainder of the time. Oh, and did I mention that there was a large selection of food at the fair? Because there was. Holy shit, was there ever a lot of fried food.
All in all, not a bad way to spend a Sunday! Now I need a nap.
