I’ve been on a Scandal binge as of late, and, consequently, I’ve fallen in love with Olivia Pope’s polished nude lip and nail combo seen throughout the show. Seriously, can we take a moment to appreciate her perfect, professional style?
Ugh. Gorgeousness.
After a bit of research, I found that her character wears a variety of lip products, but one of the staples is the Clinique Chubby Stick in Whole Lotta Honey. In fact, it looks like she’s not the only fan of this color.
As a suuuuuper pale girl with black hair, my coloring isn’t exactly close to Ms. Pope’s, but I wanted to emulate that flatteringly feminine and professional style with products that worked for me. I’m cool-toned, so I opted for a nude with more pink in it. I found Christian Dior Rouge Dior Nude Lip Blush in #459 Charnelle to be a lovely option to recreate the nude lip to suite my coloring and features.
Charnelle is a creamy “My Lips But Better” shade that enhanced my natural lip color without imparting an obvious amount of color. I find it to be long-lasting, moisturizing, and overall very comfortable to wear. The signature Dior packaging also lends to that fancy Olivia Pope feel. ;)
As for nails, Ms. Pope wears Creative Nail Shellac in Iced Cappuccino layered with Creative Nail Shellac in Romantique. This combo is a little warm for my skin tone, so I went for Creative Nail Shellac in Nude Knickers. Nude Knickers is a non-shimmery pinkish beige – the perfect nude color for cool-toned girls who prefer a rosy nude to the more common milky beige. This nude color flatters my skin tone and really pushes my look from naturally pretty to polished and pretty – perfect for wearing around the office.
While these two products won’t get me a high-powered job and a glamorous lifestyle, they do make me feel put-together and confident by letting me maintain a feminine style in a professional setting. Now if I could just get that amazing wardrobe of tailored suits and glittering gowns…
