A couple days ago I posted my morning skincare routine. It was pretty basic, but my skin has been loving the products I use and I’ve had a lot of success getting my skin to look healthy, moisturized, glowy, and smooth. Here’s the other half of my daily routine: what I do every night before bed.
The routine:
1. I start off by removing my makeup with some makeup removing wipes. For the past couple of years, I have been using Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, which I find effectively remove my makeup without irritating my skin or making it overly dry. They’re also pretty great at removing eye makeup, although lately my eyes have been stinging after using them. This is only a recent thing, so I am wondering if it’s not the wipes causing it, but sweat because it’s been so hot out. On a side note, I am toying with the idea of using a cleansing water instead of the makeup remover wipes when I run out of them. I hear that Bioderma Crealine TS H2O Micelle Solution
is really good, so I may buy a bottle and try that out. If so, I’ll be sure to post a Beauty Bytes review!
2. I then wash my face with my good old Mario Badescu Orange Cleansing Soap. Like I mentioned in the Skincare: Morning post, this is a really basic, creamy moisturizer that cleans my skin without leaving it dry, oily, or irritated. And it smells like lovely, fresh orange blossoms.

Nice and soothing :)
3. Once my face is clean and dry, I swipe a CANE + AUSTIN Retexturizing Treatment Pad all over. I’m only about half-way through my first jar, but I am having a lot of success with this product. I find that my pores look smaller, my skin looks more radiant, and I have less blackheads. I know that Glycolic Acid treatments can cause peeling, but I have not experienced any with this. It says to use it once in the morning and once at night after the first week, but I have continued using it only at night because my skin is very sensitive in the daytime and burns really easily. I’m currently getting a series of IPL hair removal treatments done on my face, so I skip using this product the week before and the week after a treatment.
4. Next up is eye cream! I use NUXE Nirvanesque Contour des Yeux First Expression Lines Eye Contour Cream (whew) right now, but this is my first purchase of it and I don’t know that I will be buying a second one. It’s silky and seems to moisturize my eye area well enough, but I haven’t seen a lot of progress vanquishing dark circles (of which I have a lot – thanks, insomnia!) and lines (of which, thankfully, I do not have many). It’s a very inoffensive and friendly eye cream, but I think I might try something else after I finish it. I am still looking for that holy grail hero that will minimize my dark eye circles.
5. Finally, I apply moisturizer. This is my absolute favorite step in my routine, not because I like moisturizer in general, but because I love this cream. Like, really love it. I would bathe in it if I could. I use NUXE Creme Fraiche De Beaute Enrichie 24HR Soothing And Moisturizing Rich Cream (seriously, Nuxe, you may want to consider shortening those names!) and my skin just drinks this up. It’s a cool, smooth, thick cream that actually goes on surprisingly thin and not oily at all. It just sinks in, leaving happy, refreshed skin. And it smells like orange blossoms. I’m a sucker for orange blossom scents. This is a moisturizer I will be using over and over again. <3
And that’s it! Over the years, my routine has been much more complicated at times, and much more simple. I tend to spend more time pampering myself at night, so my evening routines are usually a bit longer, but I still don’t like to spend forever in the bathroom. I’ve been really happy with this routine overall, and so has my skin!
